This is amazingly close to my current understanding of heavens and hell, which is quite different from what I commonly heard preached when I was younger. We were often taught the fire and brimstone version of hell, that had devels with pitchforks. From a very young age I had believed that they were trying to describe extreme cold as fire.
I remember taking seminary of the history of the church which referred to the Doctrine and Covenants, and they’re being quite an argument as to what we had been taught before and what we were being taught in the lesson which was more about the history of the church then the actual Doctrine and Covenants. I had my first personal copy went on my mission, I received my first personal copy of the Book of Mormon in seminary. One of the lessons referred to the three degrees of glory but this article is a better description.
By the time I took a Doctrine and Covenants class at Brigham Young University, I had learned a lot already. There were students who argued with the teacher who was reading the Scriptures as they are written. From a young age I had found the Scriptures – read in context of what was happening – easier to understand by themselves then the descriptions of I was told they said except for my BYU Doctrine and Covenants teacher
