Raymond Pettibon’s Surf Paintings Express the Terror and Bliss of Being Alive

I tweet in the middle of the night about being swept under a wave of angina, chronic pain. Waking fighting to get back on top of the unyielding rowing chronic pain, night terrors of being awake during my second heart emergency surgery, and flash backs from my twenty plus years in defense where I was drown in a flood, had my car wheelwell exploit from a bomb and has a gun aimed in my face my last day at work.

“Man stands at the center of nature, his fraction of time encircled by eternity,” Pettibon scrawls on the foamy top of a great wave.
